Jez Whitworth | Game Developer

I'm a passionate game developer with over 35 years of experience in the world of retro gaming. As the founder of First Coding, I've dedicated my career to inspiring the next generation of game designers and coders.

With a lifelong love for retro games, I have a deep appreciation for the history and artistry of the gaming world. This passion is the driving force behind my mission to introduce the world of game design to young minds. Through First Coding, I've been instrumental in running innovative game design workshops in schools, encouraging creativity and fostering a love for coding among students.

I have garnered numerous awards for some of my more recent games, including the prestigious Serious Games Showcase and Challenge Student Choice Award. In addition, I achieved third place in the Sega 2022 game jam. Hello to all the great people I've met at these events!

In addition to my game development achievements, I'm also a TEDx speaker. My talk focuses on the benefits of creative coding, highlighting the power of technology and creativity in shaping the future.

I was also recently on TV and radio for one of my projects that involved hacking BT public payphones. All my other projects can be found over here if you would like to know more.

For those eager to join the gaming adventure, I've also created a gaming club where enthusiasts can subscribe on a monthly basis. Subscribers receive a new game each month, along with the game files, enabling them to personalise and modify the games to their liking, making every gaming experience unique.

My dedication to both preserving the legacy of retro gaming and inspiring the next generation of game developers is a testament to my love for the art of gaming and the power of creative coding. With a wealth of experience and a heart full of enthusiasm, I like to think that I can create little ripples of encouragement in the vast world of gaming.
